The EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card is loaded with innovative new gaming technologies, making it the perfect choice for the latest high-definition games. Powered by NVIDIA Pascal - the most advanced GPU architecture ever created - the GeForce GTX 1060 delivers brilliant performance that opens the door to virtual reality and beyond. These cards also feature EVGA ACX cooling technology. EVGA ACX once again brings new and exciting features to the award winning EVGA ACX cooling technology.
Of course, ACX coolers also feature optimized swept fan blades, double ball bearings and an extreme low power motor, delivering more airflow with less power, unlocking additional power for the GPU. Pros:Great performance I was able to get mine overclock up to 2 gigahertz stable.I normally play 1080p at 144 Hertz at high settings having this card seems to be fineCons:Only con is a single fan that does not vent out the back despite what the pictures show so all the heat from the GPU gets blown into your caseOverall Review:My only recommendation is to have pretty fast ram because on higher settings the 3gb is not enough so your computer will use system ram instead but I have 2400 MHz so I'm fine with it. Pros:-Super high clock speed (getting 2k MHz without OC or any tweaking according to NZXT CAM)-Stays cool: The heating curve is very steady and gradual.
I have never had the card reach above 65C gaming on high settings, 60 FPS, 1080P (destiny 2, WoW, Fortnite, Rocket League)-Runs my two TVs smoothly-Nvidia software super easy to work with and installUPDATE 4/24/19- Can handle a triple monitor 1080p setup with one monitor running rocket league ultrasettings at 240 Hz. It runs at around 2k MHz and 90-98% loadCons:NOT REALLY A CON-Out of the box, the fan will not spin up unless under a load and around 40C (where the curve starts) Since this was my first GPU this alarmed me a bit.
After a lot of temp monitoring, the stock fan curve ends up being more powerful than it seemsOverall Review:Would definitely recommend. Have heard other reviews saying this is a good 'budget' 1080p GPUSystem Specs:-i7-7700k-Asus ROG Strix Z270E-Corsair Vengeance 16Gb ddr4-Seagate BarraCuda 1TB HDD-EVGA 500W power supply-DEEP COOL gamerstorm Captain 240-2x Dell P2214H monitors (1080p)-Alienware AW2518H Monitor. Pros:- Will run 1080p, medium to ultra settings at 60fps for most games.- Not too loud- Comes with a guide, driver installation CD, and a poster and some other nice amenities.- VR capable- Overclockable- Compact size- Great price for its performance- Low power usageCons:- The fan isn’t a fan of overclocking (see what I did there?) as it gets loud very quickly and doesn’t keep it cool very well when just nudging the performance even a little bit.- Why doesn’t NVidia make a 4gb instead?
3gb seems unreasonable. I would definitely throw in a couple more dollars for a 4gb.Overall Review:A great card if you just want to enjoy some games with friends. Pros:-3Gb of VRAM is plenty for 1080p gaming on the 'biggest' games out there! Nvidia has proven, time and time again, that it is NOT about how much VRAM, or even VRAM speed, that you have, but EFFICIENCY. This card is packed with 1,280 impressively-efficient Cuda cores. Other reviewers who have knocked this card for its lack of VRAM are speaking from antiquated knowledge and not from real evidence or comparisons.-GREAT entry-level card for first-gen VR (Rift & Vive)!
Personally, I have a GTX 1080, and this card. I play VR (Oculus Rift) on both with very little difference between settings or frame-rates between this and the 1080, in games like Skyrim VR, Tomb-Raider, or Elite Dangerous - among others.Cons:-This is not a 4K card, (but short of a 1080ti or RTX 2080ti, nothing really is!)In 2K, some compromises may have to be made where you won't get to run everything on Ultra. Consider that on 2K this card is meant for smooth, beautiful, console-level graphics, but anti-aliasing and certain features typically run on lower settings/disabled on your PS4-ports are also going to need to be adjusted accordingly with this.Overall Review:I bought this from another retailer, but wanted to post my first-hand knowledge of this card here to sort of counter some of the misconceptions about limited VRAM, or not being good enough for VR, or throwing around meaningless claims that it can't handle the 'biggest' or 'best' games. First of all, the SIZE of a game has NOTHING to do with how much VRAM you have. The term 'best' games is totally subjective, and means nothing. The term 'biggest' means how many hours of content, or the size of the environment, etc. And every game handles these factors differently.
I won't get into it, but it is only a rare, poorly-optimized game (or 4K) that require lots of VRAM. The actual work of creating images is done by the processing units, in this case, cuda cores, and the VRAM is largely just the place that holds the image prior to loading it on your screen. Some GPU companies (NOT NVIDIA) have slower processing cores and seek to compensate for this by adding more VRAM to allow images to basically 'buffer' so that when the GPU gets overloaded, it can use a fast memory buffer to prevent the user from seeing the lag/ frame-rate drop. In short, this card is so fast that it does not need lots of VRAM, and even if more is added (the 6GB version) it rarely equates to substantively better performance because memory (as described above) does not do the work of processing the images. Finally, most studios, seek to sell their games to the widest possible audience, and work to ensure that the games are optimized to run on mainstream (think GTX660) hardware. Do some research on the internet and you will see from reviews that this card typically can max out the Ultra setting on all the AAA games at 1080p @ minimum 30FPS. Let me tell you that my experience is more like 90-120 FPS!
In games like Rise of the Tomb Raider and The Witcher3.Finally, the GTX 970 is the official entry level VR card, and this card is better. I personally downloaded about 20 mods for Skyrim VR with a 4th-Gen i7 CPU and 8GB DDR3 RAM, along with this GTX 1060, (the same mods as my 8700K and GTX1080 rig) and I only had to change 1 setting in the steam VR preferences and it plays like a dream. If you want a TRULY sufficient VR card, or an ultimate 1080p gaming experience, this is the only card you need and is the best card for your budget. If you want to play 2K/4K at the highest settings? Go spend at least $900. Personally, I paid only $170.00 for this card.

I recently bought the above card.I've noticed when gaming that it reaches a peak of 80C from using HWMonitor. The fan speed also seems to peak at 3500 rpm.I have a micro atx build and no extra case fans.
Just an air cooler for my processor. My computer is also in a cupboardIs this a normal temp and fan speed to expect in these conditions? It just struck me as very loud but I'm not used to the higher end cards.I never noticed much noise from my previous video cards in the same conditions.I previously owned an EVGA GTX 960 SC and a Sapphire Radeon 7750.
Originally posted by:Normal yes, it is also sort of a downside to using single fan design based GPUs.2 or 3 fanned GPUs are much better at cooling overall. If it's not thermal-throttling or peaking to 85.C+ then the GPU should be fine otherwise. What model of Case do you have? You really should have multiple Case Fans otherwise heat just collects and there is nothing in the way of overall airflow to help take care of that; multiple Intakes and Exhaust fans generally are needed for such PC configs. This, and i really suggest doing what sticky honeybuns said about taking it out of the cupboard.upgrade your case to a mid or full ATX tower and get noctura fans for the intakes and exaust. If you don't like the color, just find the black versions or paint the fans to a certian color. Or you can also get some static pressure fans.i would get a dual or tri- fan gpu or just screw the budget and slap (don't litterally do that.
Just apply one on) a waterblock on it and custom loop (not recommended). When I had a single fan EVGA GTX 550 Ti that used almost as much power (116w vs 120w) I never saw it go over 63 C.
I currently have an Asus Dual GTX 1060 OC and it likewise runs about 63 C (maybe 65 C just briefly) and its twin fans quietly spin up only a few% from 33% minimum. I think the only other fans in my old Dell XPS 8100 are the CPU fan and exhaust fan built into the OEM PSU at the 'top' of the case.
I saw a photo of a case someone thought might have potential heat issues (without listing any temperatures) and his PSU was at the bottom of his case 'under' his graphics card (which was an MSI Twin Frozr GTX 1060).Certainly it would heat up more than normal in a confined space with no ventilation. Is it possible to perforate or remove the back of the cabinet your computer is in? Maximum temperture for GTX 1060 is 94 C.

If it gets too hot it should shut itself down before it does damage, but running it hot all the time may shorten its life. Thanks for all the advice everyone!Just to clarify, my pc is in a cupboard with double doors. Whenever my pc is switched on, the doors are always fully open. There is also a small round hole on the back for my cables (around 2 inches in diameter. I have also left a couple of inches between the back of my pc and the cupboard. My case is fairly old. It has a space on the back for 2 40mm exhaust fans and a place for 1 80mm intake fan on the side.Should I get 2 exhaust and 1 intake fan or will just 1 exhaust and 1 intake be enough?I've been looking at the following fans:This one for intake:This one for exhaust. Originally posted by:Just to rule out other issues, take your pc from cupboard and take side panel also off before gaming. Is gpu fan spinning fast?GTX1060 should run pretty cool even in full load. Perhaps faulty thermal paste?Taking side panel off is a stupid idea.
Without the panel on there is nothing stopping al the dust and crap being sucked into the system. With the side panel off it will need cleaning all the time. My advice was only for TESTING how gpu behaves when opened case.Problems can be solved step by step.If gpu fan is spinning max even in open case scenario, problem is not airflow!

VISUAL inspection, don't rely on software EVER about HARDWARE. Do you see with a flashlight on the fan when running your 'stress test' the fans NOT moving? If so, then yes RMA, otherwise your getting a false negative worry. Now DO be aware since the 9x0 series, one way to 'reduce' the cost for the extensive heat issue is NOT to put in high quality ball bearing based fans (there is a failure point just like keys on the keyboard, mouse clicking and so on) but instead use lower cost ball bearing one (passing on the 'savings' in terms of lower cost NEW GPUs) and have the fans TURN OFF when NOT underload (this is a normal state). IF you use ANY PROGRAM to override this, you will wear out the ballbearing fans very quickly (now instead of running when needed your running 24x7). It seems to be a single fan 6GB version I cannot find online. The card has only been installed today. I checked the fan to see if it was being blocked by anything but it is fine with no physical blockage.Edit: During the Heaven benchmark test the card boosted up to 1958MHz at stayed around that range however it could just be a software glitch. May check the fan header jusr under the shroud to see if its plugged in the card? Theres been one or 2 guys had thatbe sure you had registered you card with evga important with them then contact there support if you determined a RMA is necessarythese card do have a -0- fan thing but should activate the fans at about 60c,you just got one of them 1 in 100,000 lemons and that can happen with any brand.PS, may be just as good to rma back to the store you bought it from you get another 'new' card from them if approved HINT or if you need to rma with evga get there assurance there not going to send you a referb as a replacement card.
Hint 2I would not worry about any of that driver stuff suggested cause that's in the cards bios not the drivers. So unless the bios is bad you would figure the card would not work well at all or the fan is bad if not a fan power issue on the cards PCB or the header for the fan is not plugged in or plugged in correctly. There does not seem to be any lights on the card at all even when under load. You did NOT read what I said. So please follow EXACTLY as I say:1) Place computer on DESK on its SIDE POWERED OFF so the fans are facing you, your keyboard and the monitor2) OPEN computer3) get a FLASHLIGHT4) Put flashlight's LIGHT on the fan.
Power on computer, do you see fans move at all?5) Load Windows, then a game / benchmark program6) With light on the fan do you SEE it now spinning while UNDERLOAD?Oh right. My side panel is always off on this build and the reflection of light and the case being very well lit. I can tell the fan has not moved once. May check the fan header jusr under the shroud to see if its plugged in the card?

The previous card used worked fine and the card before that too. I believe I just got a bad card.
If you got a old card you can get the fan out of it to plug in the the evga card to test to see if it works or not if it works then you kinda know the cards right but the fan is badif the test fan don't work as well then it maybe sonthing wrong with the card in fullI got a fan out of a old 6850 I use to do that withits not going tom hurt the card to unhook the evga fan from the PCb header and plug in the test fan, heck your all ready running it with out any fan as it is nowthe only thing I spare is a GTX770 but the cooler is gainward and seems to be a very weird cooler. Taking the 1060 apart wont void warranty? Tom if you don't know don't answerevga don't care at all you can remove all you want from there cards as long as all stock parts are on the card when you send it in.
